💎 🦷 D.I.V.E.R.S.I.T.Y 🦷 💎

We have a #wordoftheweek at Diamond Dental Staff, where we try to keep this word in mind in everything we; do/say/are. You would have seen this across our socials if you are already following us across Facebook and Instagram.

This week, (and every other day of the week) we are focussing on celebrating our differences and recognising them as our strengths, embracing individuality and encouraging you all to do the same by sharing some great resources and further reading that you might like to share with your Dental Team.

WHO ARE WE?

Emma Anastasi, Founding Director, launched Diamond Dental Staff in February 2018.

3 years in, we are now a team of 10 and a community of 3,260 dental professionals across all roles, ranging from Consultants to Dental Receptionists from all around the world. We provide consultancy services to our clients that are spread across Europe, in Hospitals, Dental Practices, Dental Laboratories and Dental Suppliers. Our ‘Community Members’ look to us to support them with their career progression opportunities and training pathways and our clients turn to Diamond Dental Staff to service all their Dental Recruitment and Dental Team Training needs.

Naturally, as a dental recruitment agency and dental training provider, we connect with Dental Professionals from all walks of life and we are so proud to welcome each and everyone to The Diamond Dental Staff Community. Unfortunately, still to this day in our own personal experiences and scenarios that have been shared with us, there has been prejudice, racism, bigotry and ignorance, which has no place in society, no place in a professional setting and certainly no place whatsoever in anything we are involved with. We should all take some responsibility to challenge this behaviour, honour and support each other and try our best to promote equal opportunities in all settings.

In our #WordOfTheWeek posts, we always ask…

WHAT DOES THIS WORD MEAN TO YOU?

It is such a broad subject, isn’t it? It all comes down to inclusivity, ensuring that our dental teams are open, accepting and supportive of all communities and ensuring that these communities are represented.

WHAT IS DIVERSITY?

It is the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs.

WHY IS DIVERSITY IMPORTANT?

We all have our strengths and we will always only ever be stronger together. Having a team combine their knowledge, experience and skills under the right leadership can promote innovation, a sense of solidarity and community and help a business and teams grow. Not just from a business perspective, let’s look at your patient base, representation matters. People connect with people, not businesses or companies. Team members will be happier at work knowing that their individuality is not only accepted but embraced and empowered. That they are open to the same opportunities or career advancement as their colleagues, and this is how it should be.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT…

If you’re looking to make your practice more diverse but don’t know where to start, here are a few simple steps that every dental practice can start implementing.
